Starting from a young age, I loved SPACE - how it made me feel, the
use of it, its colors and angles. Whether I was rearranging the
furniture in my bedroom each week, or fantasizing about what an
upstairs addition would look like on our house, I was always looking
for new ways to change the space around me that reflected my mood.
I later moved to New York City, where I lived for nearly 18 years.
Living in a succession of tiny studio apartments, I started to adapt
my desire for, but lack of, space to creating environments on paper.
Combining my love for color and details with the use of pattern, I
create tiny "homes" for my illustrations to live within. Whether
I'm wrapping an illustration in words or filling the page with
bright color, I try to merge artwithmoodwithspace.
I now live in Austin, Texas where I finally have more than four
walls to work with.
